For all non-history related
inquiries, please use the IEEE
Toll Free Number: 1-800-678-IEEE (4333)
From New Jersey Turnpike
(I95):
Turn off at Exit
9. After toll booths, bear to
the right. Follow signs for
"Route 18 North - New
Brunswick." Proceed along Route
18 North past exit for "Route 27"
and take the exit marked "George
Street-Rutgers University"
(approximately 2.6 miles from
Turnpike). At the top of the
exit ramp, bear left onto George
Street heading towards downtown New
Brunswick. Make first right
onto Seminary Place. At the end
of Seminary Place make a left onto
College Avenue. The entrance to
Parking Lot #11 will be on your
right, during the Spring and Fall
Semesters the gate is usually down.
If this is the case, please proceed
around the block (two right hand
turns) to the Center. We will
provide you with a "key card" which
will allow you to enter the
lot. Enter Lot #11 and go "as
far back" as you can. That is, the
History Center is located on Union
Street (at the corner of Union and
Mine), which runs parallel to
College Avenue. Imagine that you are
using Lot #11 to "cut through" to
Union Street and you will find us.
If the gate to Lot #11 is
not up:
Proceed past the
Lot #11 entrance and turn right at
the next light (Hamilton
Street). Take the next right
(Union Street). The History
Center is the last building on your
right, at the corner of Union and
Mine Streets. Look for parking
on Union or Mine Streets, or, double
park briefly and run into the
History Center to get a key card for
Lot #11, then drive back around to
College Avenue and the Lot #11
entrance.
From the IEEE Operations Center:
From Sidney Rd., turn left
onto Hoes Lane, and continue over
the bridge into New Brunswick. Take
the first exit (George Street) after
you cross the bridge. The exit ramp
will go up a small hill, with
traffic lights at the top. Turn
right onto Huntington Street, and
take it for one block to College
Avenue. Turn left onto College
Avenue (note that pedestrians have
right of way in
all crosswalks). Follow College
Avenue about half a mile to the next
set of traffic lights (Hamilton
Avenue). Turn right onto Hamilton
Avenue, and take your next right
onto Union Street. The IEEE History
Center is at the corner where Union
Street dead-ends into Mine Street.
See above for parking instructions.
Walking Directions from the
Hyatt Regency, New Brunswick:
Walk up Route 27
(street in front of Hotel) to the
New Brunswick Train Station. Turn
right at the Station and proceed up
Easton Avenue on the Train Station
side of the street. Proceed three
blocks (Wall Street, Hamilton
Street, Mine Street). Make a right
onto Mine Street and proceed on
block to Union Street. As you cross
the street the History Center will
be in front of you, #39. It is an
old brick house.
