About half of the Center's support comes from the operating budgets of its two parent organizations: IEEE and Rutgers, and from a quasi-endowment, known as the History Fund, which was created in 1996 by major donations from the IEEE General Fund, the IEEE Foundation General Fund, and the Friends of the IEEE History Center Fund. Since then the endowment has received many donations from the IEEE Societies, IEEE Foundation, IEEE Life Members Committee and IEEE Sections, as well as from individuals and corporations. We also receive support from contracts and grants. The remaining support comes primarily from contracts and grants and annual gifts from individuals.

The IEEE History Center is partnered with the IEEE Development Office in the administration of its fundraising activities.

Currently, the IEEE Foundation is holding a Society Challenge. Through 2008 they will match dollar for dollar, up to a grand total of $1 million, donations by an IEEE Technical Society to the History Fund. To see how the campaign is going, click here.
