Transparent IEEE Master Brand Image Files

Printable Format
Printer Friendly

You can access IEEE Master Brand graphics with transparent backgrounds and transparent matted backgrounds from this page for use in Web, print or MS-Office presentations.

Transparent graphics allow the Web page's background color to show through the part of the graphic that is transparent (the right-hand rule design). Using a transparent graphic also prevents a white box from appearing around the IEEE Master Brand on a color background. For usage guidelines, consult the IEEE Identity Standards.

Transparent matted graphics are graphics with edges blended to the page color. They are provided here for use on blue, grey and white colored Web pages. A "no matte-hard edge" graphic also is provided here. This graphic is not blended to any particular color and will appear to rest on top of a page instead of blending with a page's background color.

Please read all the guidelines and file type notes carefully.

TIF - Best for simple applications (MS Word) where the IEEE Master Brand will be displayed against a white background. - use tif graphic on the Master Brand image page

EPS - Used primarily by graphic design agencies and printers. Best for complex applications requiring higher resolution, where software supports eps format (Adobe Illustrator, Quark Xpress, Pagemaker, Corel Draw). Transparent eps versions also available.

GIF - Best for use in Internet and PowerPoint applications where a colored background needs to be transparent (fill in behind) so the IEEE Master Brand does not appear with a white box around it. For better resolution, use eps format and follow instructions below for making transparent in MS-Office applications*. Also, see instructions below for making specialty transparent gifs for the web.**

JPG - Best for Internet, PowerPoint, and other MS-Office documents where the IEEE Master Brand will be displayed against a white background. use jpg graphic on the Master Brand image page.

*Microsoft Word Applications:

If none of the transparent gifs provided meet your needs; we recommend modifying an eps graphic after importing it into your MS-Office application. You cannot use the "Saved to eps version because MS-Office applications cannot interpret the file format.

1. Select the eps file from the top grid and follow the downloading guidelines.

2. Insert the graphic into PowerPoint or MS word; change the graphic into a drawing object.

3. Use the transparent wand tool to make the background transparent.

4. To eliminate any jagged edges, use the paint bucket to fill the graphic with the same background color of the page.

**Specialty Transparent Graphics for the Web:

If none of the transparent matted gifs provided meet your needs; we recommend modifying the eps graphic and exporting it as a gif to use on your Web page. The guidelines below explain this process:
